To travel to Africa is a long flight but it is the only uncomfortable thing of coming to Africa but if you follow our advice and use the recommended companies you won’t be disappointed. We would advice clients not to take flights via Europe but rather to fly over DAKAR to South Africa. It happened too many times to clients where their rifles got lost or damaged in Europe. If you decide to rent a rifle from us, the Europe option might safe you some money.

  • The best hunting opportunities in the prime hunting areas of South Africa.
  • Excellent accommodation approved by Nature conservation.
  • Excellent Trophies.
  • Experienced professional hunters, trackers and skinners.
  • Excellent food.
  • Daily laundry.
  • Open bar facility.
  • Affordable hunts.
  • A Well organized outfit where you will have peace of mind and value for money.

FLYING AND TRAVELING:

Delta Airlines offers a direct flight to Johannesburg Int. Airport from Atlanta (about 15 hours). United Airlines are also a good and reliable option. There are different time zones for buying tickets. Example; January till end April is not as expensive as from 1st of May till mid August. Mid August till December is also cheaper and more affordable. Ask your travel agent for more details. We recommend Gracy Travel, Custom Travel and TWG Travel if you are traveling with your rifle.

Traveling to and from the airport is done in air conditioned vehicles with a responsible licensed driver. The size of the group will determine the size of the vehicle. Most of the traveling is done on good surfaced tar roads with a speed limit of 75 miles an hour on main roads. Hunting areas are normally a short drive from camp. Kujali Safaris (Limpopo) is about 3 hours driving from Johannesburg International airport.(OR Tambo) where you will fly in and where we will meet you and assist you though the rifle process. Chartered flights are available on your request and account.

Import of Rifles

FIREARMS AND DOCUMENTS:

We at Kujali Safaris are hunters not experts on ballistics. However, we base our knowledge on experience that we gained in the field about what works and what not. Bring a rifle that you are used too and feel comfortable with. A good accurate rifle, with a good penetration ability. African animals are tough and doesn’t bleed a lot, therefore shot placement are more important than calibre although it goes hand in hand. I have seen Impala and Warthogs going for miles after shots with big calibre rifles and then we have seen Eland killed with a 7mm calibre. Thus it is all about shot placement which the very most important part of your hunt. It is therefore very important that you bring a rifle you can trust and one you are used to.

We recommend 300 calibres upwards for bigger plains game. You will need about 40 rounds of good Ammo. Remember a dollar more for a good bullet is not a lot of money when you shoot at an expensive trophy animal. Although there’s a few rumors about the importation of your rifle in South Africa, 90% of them are not true. If you follow these easy steps, you will have no problems on your arrival in SA. It is really easy to bring rifles into South Africa

If you will be bringing  your own rifle, please reach out to MR. X email: mxafrica18@gmail.com to assist you with your rifle importation into South Africa.

IMPORTATION OF RIFLES:

  • A temporary import permit (SAPS 520) from the South African police service is required to bring your rifle into South Africa. This permit is issued on your arrival at Johannesburg.
  • There are companies and individuals offering an importation service at a fee. It is not necessary, if you follow these easy steps it will save you money.
  • You are allowed to bring 2 rifles per person (NOT OF THE SAME CALIBER) and 5 pounds of ammunition for each rifle.
  • We will apply for the permit on your behalf for free if you send us the next documentation.
  • Documentation needed are: Copies of passport, Stamped customs declaration form DA 4457, Airline Itinerary and please complete the Rifle importation sheet under documentation on our website. We will have your letter of invitation with us on your arrival but if you decide to use a rifle broker we can recommend Mr. X (mxafrica18@gmail.com) @ $100 USD.
  • NO semi-automatic/automatic rifles or 2x rifles of the same caliber is allowed. For example 2x308 but 308 and 30.06 is allowed.

HINTS:

  • South African professional hunters mainly use shooting sticks as the grass are normally to high for bi-pods. We recommend that you practice form shooting sticks in a standing position. You will do most of your shooting in this way.
  • Shooting distances vary from 30 – 200 yards in the Limpopo province and up to 300 yards in other areas. For your comfort we have hunting rifles available. Ammunition can be bought in town. For the conditions you will be hunting with a good telescope with a 4X – 6X which will be adequate. Rifle renting is $30 per rifle per day + $80 per box of ammo.
  • Make copies of all the documents and have them put away in your hand luggage together with your plane ticket and passport on arrival.
  • We personally use .280 Remington and 30-06 with ammo weighing about 160gr for all our plains game. Therefor a .270, 30-06 & .300 will do well.
  • Barnes TSX bullets perform very well on African game.
  • No shots or vaccinations needed.
  • No Visa requirements from the USA.

Hunting Areas

Kujali Safaris operates and offer hunts in different regions of South Africa and have extended our services to the Free State and North West Province.

SOUTH AFRICA:

Hunting takes place in most of South Africa’s provinces. Most of our standard hunting packages take place in three major areas. We hunt and combine our areas in the Limpopo, Free State and North West Province. These areas differ a lot from one another in topography and species. The Limpopo consists mostly of thick acacia thorny brush and sandy flat areas. The Free State and North West Province are characterized by more open plains with very little tree cover and mountains. When hunting in the Free State and North West Province, longer distance shots are required.

”It’s a real advantage to hunt in two different areas on one safari to experience a little more of what this country has to offer.“

You will need 7 hunting days to combine 2 areas.
We hunt in these different areas to provide you with a bigger variety of species. Our hunting does not support Put and Take hunts. In the Limpopo we hunt on +/- 70 000 acres. In the Frees State we have access to +/- 60 000 acres and our area in the North West Province vary in size from 3000 – 10 000 acres.

We also do some buffalo hunts next to Kruger National Park where we offer you good Nyala, Cape Buffalo and other species. These are wild Buffalo and are not pen raised and tame. With us you will have the choice of the bulls we find on the hunt.

Insurance & Indemnity

Although we at Kujali Safaris take every precaution to ensure your safety and health we do not except any liability against injuries, illness, accidents and acts of nature. Please contact your care provider for the necessary coverage while you are on safari. Please Insure your trophies on route from South Africa to your country.
